어린 시절 부모님을 여의고 오빠 장수와 어렵게 자란다 초등학교 시절부터 사고만 치고 돌아다니는 오빠를 대신해 집안 살림을 거의 꾸려나가다시피 한다
어릴 때부터 삶에 지쳐 노력으로 꿈을 이루리라는 환상을 일찌감치 버린 수정 어렵게 순전히 혼자 힘으로 대학이라는데도 들어가 보지만 공부에는 관심이 없고 어떻게 한 방에 인생을 역전시킬까 하는 생각뿐이다
나름대로 예쁘고 똑똑하다고 생각하여 연예계로 진출하거나 아니면 돈 많은 남자를 잡는 야무진 꿈을 꾸어보지만 연예계는 커녕 일생에 돈 많은 남자라곤 구경조차 못해보고 사기꾼 같은 놈들에게 연거푸 당한데다가 교도소를 제집 드나들 듯 하는 양아치 오빠 때문에 되는 일도 없이 빚더미에 올라 앉는다
우울하기 짝이 없는 인생이지만 혼자 있을 때 가끔 소주잔을 기울이며 눈물 짓는 것 말고는 사람들 앞에서 자신이 처한 환경을 드러내지 않기 위해 언제나 억지로라도 웃는 모습을 보인다..

She lost her parents young and grew up struggling alongside her brother Jang-su. From elementary school onward, with her brother constantly causing trouble, she virtually ran the household herself.
Weary of life from an early age, Su-jeong abandoned the illusion that effort could fulfill dreams. She managed to enter university entirely on her own, but had no interest in studying — only in finding a way to overturn her life in one stroke.
Believing herself pretty and clever, she dreamed of entering show business or catching a wealthy man. But she never even glimpsed such a man, instead being repeatedly deceived by swindler-like types. On top of that, her delinquent brother, in and out of prison as if it were home, left her buried in debt.
Her life is steeped in gloom, yet apart from the occasional tears shed alone over a glass of soju, she always forces a smile in front of others, hiding the harsh reality she lives in.
