Actress Ha Ji-won has shared her heartfelt feelings after throwing the ceremonial first pitch at Major League Baseball’s (MLB) iconic Fenway Park.
On July 23rd, Ha Ji-won posted on her Instagram: “I don’t think I will ever forget the cheering and warm support from all the fans who were with me at Fenway Park. Today’s emotion will stay in my heart for a long time.” She also included an English message to convey her deep appreciation to local fans.
In the accompanying photos, Ha Ji-won—dressed in a Boston Red Sox jersey and cap—captured the vibrant energy of the venue as she shared a warm hug with the team’s official mascot, Wally the Green Monster, and beamed brightly near the pitcher’s mound.
Invited to a cultural exchange event bridging sports and entertainment, Ha Ji-won made history as the first Korean actor to stand on the Fenway Park mound. Originally scheduled for the day prior, the ceremony was rescheduled due to a rainout and took place prior to Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles on July 23rd (KST).
Ahead of the pitch, she expressed, “I feel deeply honored to be the first Korean actor to throw out the first pitch at Fenway Park, a historic stadium representing Major League Baseball. Having practiced hard, I want to deliver a great pitch. Beyond sending winning energy to the Boston Red Sox players, I hope to share a memorable moment with the local Korean community and baseball fans around the world.”
Fueled by Ha Ji-won’s rally-inducing pitch, Boston went on to defeat Baltimore 6-3, securing their 15th consecutive home win. This tied the franchise record for the longest home winning streak at Fenway Park—a milestone last achieved 29,293 days (nearly 80 years) ago during the era of Ted Williams in 1946.
Meanwhile, just a week prior to her Major League appearance on July 16th, Ha Ji-won also threw out the ceremonial first pitch for the 2026 KBO League game between the KT Wiz and LG Twins at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, earning enthusiastic cheers from domestic fans.
